The pandemic has impacted people all over the world; however, this graphic depicts various visual statistics regarding COVID-19 in Illinois from Dec. 15, 2020, to March 9, 2021. The data focuses on several datasets including Coronavirus cases, deaths, vaccines, etc.

Illinois Demographics

Illinois is a Midwest state with a population of 12,741,080, as of 2021.

Although the pandemic has impacted everyone, it was interesting to isolate a specific state and research all the data provided in terms of how Illinois has managed the Coronavirus.

The graphic helps visualize the statistics provided by the Illinois Department of Public Health, collected from Dec. 15, 2020, to March 9, 2021.

Coronavirus Cases in Illinois

The coronavirus was a foreign concept, many assumed that it was occurring in China and was meant to be contained; however, the virus did spread and was soon considered a world-wide pandemic.

Illinois was no exception to this. The first COVID case to be reported in Illinois was on Jan. 24, 2020.

Never in our wildest dreams did we expect to go from one case to a total of 1,201,027 total cases of COVID-19 reported to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

There have been a total of 18,733,271 total tests performed in Illinois.

The total test performed are reported based on the total molecular and antigen tests performed and reported electronically for COVID-19 testing at the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH).

From those 18,733,271 test done, only 1,201,027 were positive for COVID. That is approximately 6.4% for positive COVID tests from the sample provided.

Although there is a recovery rate of 98%, there have still been deaths. A total of 20,781 deaths have been attributed to COVID.

Illinois Vaccinations

The COVID vaccine has been long-awaited. There is a process for getting the vaccine.

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, there has been a total of 4,597,805 Illinois Doses.

Furthermore, 9.37% of the Illinois population has been fully vaccinated as of March 9, 2021.
